  • Why choose Amplify Life?
Amplify Life prioritises ethical, values-based and person-centred care. We work closely with clients as we do our part to help them live the lives they choose and achieve their goals. The friendly team at Amplify Life know you need things done now. We don’t cut corners, we get things done quickly by staying focused on you and your needs. Our follow-up is fast, and we aim to have any reports completed and returned to you within 2 weeks of your final assessment date. We will let you know right away if we can’t do this.
  • What can OT help with?
Functional Capacity Assessments / Functional Needs Assessments These Identify your strengths / weaknesses in everyday tasks, and recommend what supports might help you with these. This also helps the NDIS decide what funding is included in your NDIS Plan. Equipment Prescription Identify / prescribe equipment that you may require, e.g., daily living aids, assistive technology (beds, wheelchairs, bathroom equipment) etc. and complete a report for NDIS with these recommendations. Home Modifications Identify any modifications needed to your house (e.g. add a ramp for wheelchair access, accessible bathroom, or grab rails) and complete a report for NDIS with these recommendations. Exploring housing options to Identify what type of living situation meets your needs Your OT can assess and recommend the most appropriate housing for you, then complete a report for NDIS with these recommendations (e.g., Supported Independent Living (SIL), or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Ongoing Therapy Plan ongoing therapy to help you meet your goals. - Your OT might complete these therapy appointments themselves, or they might instruct an Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to complete these appointments by following a plan written by your OT.
  • What's an AHA?
Short for “Allied Health Assistant” – a helper to an AHP (Allied Health Professional. This could be OT, Physio, Speech Therapist or others. For now, let’s use OT as an example). They are trained (usually Certificate III / Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance) to work in healthcare under the supervision of an OT. They are not allowed to work without this supervision – but some can be supervised remotely (e.g., by phone or email). You might not see their supervisor at your appointments. If appropriate, your OT may choose for you to complete these sessions with an AHA as an AHA is more cost-effective than an OT. This means, having some appointments with an AHA instead of all with an OT can help your NDIS money last longer.
  • What can an AHA help with?
    - Therapy or education that has been prescribed by an OT. - Update your OT if things change and you might need more or different help. - Demonstrate / provide education on basic equipment (after OT prescribes it – either for hire or after purchasing). - Gather information for the OT. This might be taking measurements or photos, or recording answers to screening questions or simple assessments. (An AHA will not choose which assessments or interpret any results – only the OT can do that.)
  • What areas does Amplify Life cover?
Appointments can be Face to Face in person or via telehealth and can be completed wherever best suits, e.g., in your home, community, school, or childcare centre. - Brisbane and Greater Brisbane Suburbs - Ipswich & Toowoomba Areas - North Brisbane and Surrounding Suburbs, Including Redcliffe and Bribie Island - Sunshine Coast, Nambour & Gympie - Australia wide (via telehealth)
